Compress a PDF

Make a PDF smaller for email or an upload form. The file stays on this device.

A scanned PDF or a pack of photos can be too large for email or an upload form. Compression builds a smaller PDF you can send, without uploading the original to Free-Utils.

When to compress

Compress a PDF when:

  • an email or form rejects the file for size
  • you need a lighter copy for chat or classroom upload
  • the original is image-heavy and you can accept some softness

Keep the original if you still need the full-quality scan.

Open the PDF compressor

  1. Open Compress PDF.
  2. Choose the PDF from your device.
  3. Keep the tab open while the browser compresses the file.

Size limits

PDFs up to 150 MB on a computer or 100 MB on a phone. On Pro you can pick up to 10 PDFs at once (Plus 25, Business 50).

The PDF is not uploaded.
