Convert a video to MP4
Save an MP4 without uploading the video. MP4 plays on phones, televisions, and laptops.
MP4 is the format most phones, televisions, and laptops open without extra software. Screen recordings, camera dumps, and downloads sometimes arrive as WebM, MOV, or another container that a recipient cannot play. Converting here keeps the video on your device.
When you want MP4
Choose MP4 when you need a file that:
- opens in Messages, Mail, or a classroom portal
- plays on a TV or shared laptop
- uploads to a site that only lists MP4
If you only need a short looping clip for the web, GIF can still be useful, but MP4 is usually smaller and sharper for the same length.
